Privacy
Hither works on your Mac. It includes no analytics or telemetry, and the only thing that leaves your Mac is the licence check described below.
What Hither reads
- Open and Save dialogs in the app in front, through Accessibility, to find a dialog and move it to a folder.
- Which folders Finder's windows and tabs show, through Automation. It never changes anything in Finder.
- Recently used files' folders, from Spotlight on your Mac, to suggest places.
Folder history and settings stay on your Mac, in Hither's preferences and ~/Library/Application Support/Hither.
Network
Hither connects to the network in one case: validating your licence key with the payment provider (Lemon Squeezy, api.lemonsqueezy.com) at activation and periodically afterwards. That request sends the licence key and an install name; as with any web request, the provider sees your IP address.
