Settings
Set it up your way
Picker style, which folders show and in what order, a default folder per app, folders to never show, your own shortcuts.
Works with Raycast, Alfred and Keyboard Maestro.
Features
One key, the right folder.
macOS already pins folders in the sidebar. It won't send the dialog to the folder you're looking at in Finder. Hither does that.
Straight to Finder
⌃⌥G sends the dialog to the front Finder window. Nothing to look at, nothing to pick.
Pick a folder
⌃⌥Space shows Finder windows and tabs, this app's recent folders, and recent folders anywhere. A menu, a ⌘Tab-style switcher or a list.
Type to find
Start typing in the list and it searches every folder: Finder first, then recents, then Spotlight.
Folders beside the dialog
Optional: a short list next to every Open and Save dialog. Click a folder. Off until you turn it on.
Click a Finder window
Optional: with a dialog open, click any Finder window and the dialog goes there.
Yours to set up
Default folder per app, folders to never show, your own shortcuts. Works with Raycast, Alfred and Keyboard Maestro.

FAQ
Questions
Why does it need Accessibility access?
Apple has no way for one app to move another app's dialog. Accessibility is how Hither finds the Open or Save dialog and sends it to a folder. It doesn't read your documents or what you type.
And Finder access?
So Hither can ask Finder which folders its windows and tabs show. It never changes anything in Finder.
Does anything leave my Mac?
One thing: checking your licence key with the payment provider, when you activate and now and then after. No analytics.
Which apps and Macs does it work with?
Any app that uses the standard macOS Open and Save dialogs, including App Store apps, on macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel. Apps that draw their own file pickers aren't covered.
Is it safe to install?
Hither is signed with my Apple developer certificate and notarized: Apple scans each release for malware before it can run without warnings. That's an automated scan, not an App Store review.
Is it a subscription?
No. One price, every future update.
